About Allison

I will never forget the day I saw two professionals attempting to carry a child by his ankles and wrists. I was observing my client in a setting outside of where I typically worked with him, and I immediately intervened and instructed them to stop. That moment has stayed with me and continues to motivate me to teach and mentor other professionals to always strive to do better—and to approach our work with both ethical responsibility and compassion.

I feel incredibly fortunate in my career journey and in the experiences that have shaped the work I do today. I began my career in ABA at Columbia University in New York City, where I learned how to apply behavior analysis in school settings for children with and without autism. Later, I worked at a private school for children with autism, where I further developed my behavior-analytic skills in program development, assessment, and supervision.

I went on to complete my PhD at Simmons University, where I discovered my passion for supervising and mentoring BCBAs. My doctoral dissertation focused on supervision and on teaching BCBAs the professional skills they need to become more effective supervisors. That experience helped clarify what I wanted to contribute to our field: developing professionals who are not only technically competent, but also thoughtful, confident, ethical, and compassionate practitioners.

Today, I focus my career on developing and mentoring current and future BCBAs by helping them build strong foundational skills. For students preparing for the BCBA exam, that means developing a true understanding of ABA—not simply completing mock exams until they can pass a test. For current BCBAs, it means building the knowledge, clinical skills, and confidence needed to move beyond imposter syndrome and trust their abilities as professionals. I believe that as our field continues to grow, we have a responsibility to grow the quality of our professionals alongside it.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my family and close friends. I enjoy being outside—running or biking, walking our dog, and taking day trips to different cities and towns. While I love being outdoors and spending time in the woods, the city girl in me still gets a little nervous about all the creatures I might encounter!
